EPISODE ONE: RICHARD FROM LONDON

Richard Adeshiyan is considered as one of the Godfather’s of Black British publishing and a media influencer. More significantly, in the words of Malcolm Gladwell’s International best-selling book, ‘The Tipping Point, Richard would qualify as a ‘Connector’ (People with a special gift for bringing the world together). It has been joked that he was LinkedIn before it even existed! Richard has also earned an enviable reputation in the US, confirmed by his consultant credit on the critically acclaimed BBC/Netflix documentary, ‘They’ve Got to Have Us’.

Starting as a journalist in the 80s at The Voice Newspaper his professional story captures encounters with people globally who became his ‘Career Sherpas’ providing him with an unplanned purpose. From journalist to founding editor of the New Nation newspaper, Richard has launched the careers of many of today’s key Black public figures. He has become a Career Sherpa in his own right following in the footsteps of the Career Sherpas who have come before him.
